There is a One Drink Minimum in effect! In order for us to continue being hosted by our venue we must support the bar, everyone Artists and Audience alike. Please support the bar by getting at least one beverage, it can be non-alcoholic if you wish.
::SLAM Rules::
• There are 3 open mic slots/Il y'a 10 spot sur le micro ouvert
• There are 8 SLAM spots
• Spoken Word artists have 3 minutes to perform, with a 10 second grace period. After 3mins 10seconds 0.5 points are deducted for every 10 seconds over time ex: 3min11sec -0.5 points, 3min20sec -1 point, etc.
• No props, no musical accompaniment, no costumes, no animals, no nudity.
• 5 judges score the bout from 0 - 10, at the end of each performance the highest and lowest scores are dropped and the middle three added together for a total out of 30 points.
• Trigger Warning: There will be only one trigger warning at the beginning of the bout. All performers will be timed once they engage the microphone and/or the audience. I.E. if you breathe into the mic, the timer begins.
• There will be two rounds, once the first round is over, only the top five performers will advance to the second round.
• In case of a tie, the two performers will have a SUDDEN DEATH round.
• The audience is encouraged to sway the judges with boos, hisses, stomps, claps, hoottin' n hollarin'. Even bribery attempts are encouraged, like drinks or food if you wish.
• The Judges are encouraged NOT to be swayed by the audience! Accept all bribes as you wish, but remain firm in your decisions! You are an expert in the field of judgement and so we expect you to do your job!
• There will be a timekeeper and scorekeeper to ensure that all calculations are done correctly. That person is an expert in math and time watching, so you can rest assured they know how to do their job!
• Features: one feature will open the first half, the second feature will open the second half.
