The Record Breakers are from the West Island of Montreal. They play original music with elements of blues, rock, country and pop. And then they add something that is all their own. Under the name of The Record Breakers Retro the band also plays covers of songs by The Beatles, Chuck Berry, Fleetwood Mac, Blue Rodeo, and other iconic bands.
These young musicians all attended the same music school and found their way together by their love of, and dedication to, music. Since they formed in 2014 they have performed at impressive venues such as the Oscar Peterson Concert Hall, The Crowley Art Centre, and the famed Club Soda in Montreal.
“I’ve shared the stage with the Record Breakers a few times lately. There is something timeless about Bella and Hayden. A formidable one-two punch.”
Gary Moffet, April Wine Fame
The summer of 2015 proved to be particularly exciting. The band had the opportunity to perform at The Strangers in the Night 11 gala fundraiser for The Starlight Foundation, where Blue Rodeo was the headliner. Other summertime performances include the Montreal Folk Festival, Hudson Music Festival, West Island RibFest, Flavours of Monkland Street Festival and Saint Anne de Bellevue Boardwalk Summer Concerts.
In the summer of 2015, the band released two songs on iTunes, "Highway Blues" and "Falling Back" and are now puting the final touches on their first EP. Stay tuned for release date.
ABOUT THE BAND MEMBERS
Hayden is a singer-songwriter, front man and guitarist extraordinaire. Inspired by blues and rock legends, his blues-infused solos invite you along for the ride. His style is smooth
as silk. (16 years old)
Bella is a singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. Her voice is strong and true as lead or backup. She can add textures and colour as the music dictates. And her ukulele is never far. (16 years old)
Devan is a rock-solid bassist. He creates melodic and rhythmic bass lines on which the songs rest. Devan is inspired by punk and classic rock and is equally comfortable with slap, pic or finger-style techniques. (17 years old)
Julian is a natural drummer - rhythm is in his DNA. His beat is the backbone of the music and his fills entertain the ear. Julian is the band's comedian-in-residence with a vast repertoire of impressions from Mickey Mouse to Paul McCartney. (18 years old)
Michael might be the youngest in the band but he's an old soul at heart as a big fan of the punk and rock bands of the 80's and 90's. His edgy acoustic guitar reflects this influence. (15 years old)
