Uprisings cycleIV. Through (blazing) conflicts and V. Through (indestructible) desires
The Galerie de l’UQAM and the Cinémathèque québécoise, in partnership with the Musée du Jeu de Paume in Paris, present
Soulèvements, by the curator and art historian Georges Didi-Huberman. Already presented in Paris, Barcelone, Buenos Aires,Sao Paulo and Mexico, the exhibit takes place in two locations, at the Cinémathèque québécoise and at the Galerie de l'UQAM. Its multidisciplinary approach emphasises what testifies of political, social and
aesthetic uprisings. What
does uprise us? Forces: psychic, bodily, social. Through them we transform immobility into
movement, overwhelm into energy, submission into revolt, le renunciation into
expansive joy (Georges Didi-Huberman). The exhibit is accompanied by movies, which navigate between documentary, political movie, fiction and experimental movie, thus telling a brief crossing of cinema history.
The Uprisings exhibit is organized by the Jeu de Paume, Paris, and directed by the Galerie de l’UQAM and the Cinémathèque québécoise for its presentation in Montréal.
