An all-woman
cast tackles contemporary femininity in Talisman’s Clean Slate
In Clean Slate six friends
gather to celebrate life, and death in a brave, messy, and above all authentic
portrait of millennial sisterhood. This examination of young women reclaiming
their sexuality is a celebration of Montreal’s emerging talent and makes Clean Slate a play to watch out for in
2019.
Talisman Theatre’s March 2019 production of Clean Slate is a translation of
Catherine Chabot’s award-winning play Table
rase, first presented in 2014 at and since reprised twice due to popular
demand. Chabot is a graduate of the Conservatory of Dramatic Arts in Montreal,
and is winner of Best Text from the Quebec Association of Theatre Critics for Table rase (AQCT/2016).
“How do we make meaning of our lives? How do
young women express their sexuality? What is the value of community and
friendship in our digitized world? These
questions draw me into the world of Clean
Slate: a visceral and raw examination of life, friendship, personal choice,
sexual expression and the creation of a meaningful life.” -Leslie Baker, Director of Clean Slate
